Officium Quotidianum. In nomine Patris, & Filii, & Spiritus Sancti. AMEN.

Morning Offering

A brief prayer dedicating the day's actions to God's glory.

O Lord, I have risen and fallen prostrate before you: Please help me in all my actions with your most gracious favor, and support me with your continual assistance; so that in all my works begun, continued, and completed in you, I may glorify your Holy Name, and ultimately, through your mercy, obtain everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Confession and Absolution

A deep, penitential acknowledgement of sin followed by a plea for restoration.

Almighty God and most merciful Father, you are mercy itself; I have erred knowingly and strayed willingly, running from your ways more like an untamed heifer than a lost or wandering sheep. I have followed my own heart's absurd devices and brutish desires far too much—in fact, entirely. I have offended against your holy laws, and even taken offense at them. I have left undone the things I ought to have done. And I have done only the things I ought not to have done. There is no health, nor any hope of health, in me. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon me—a miserable sinner, the greatest of sinners, and most unthankful for such great grace. Spare me, and all those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore me, and all those who are penitent, who desire to be penitent, who wish they were, who would be glad if they were, who fear they aren't enough, and who are sorry they aren't more: for this is according to your promises—most precious, most gracious, and most sweet promises—declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. Grant therefore, O most merciful Father, for the sake of him who is our Redeemer, Advocate, Author and Finisher of our Faith, our Propitiation, Righteousness, and Justification, that I and all penitents may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your Holy Name and the salvation of our own souls. Amen.

Petitions for Grace and Protection

Specific requests for forgiveness of past sins and the cultivation of a virtuous heart.

O Eternal God and merciful Father, I humbly ask you to pardon all the sins, omissions, and commissions, thoughts, words, and deeds by which I have provoked your anger from the time of my birth to this present moment. May no one, nor all of my sins together, ever cry out louder in your ears for vengeance than the cry of my prayers may ascend to you for mercy and forgiveness, and obtain what they seek. Particularly, I humbly beseech you to forgive me my great and clamorous sins, such as they are. O Lord, I have sinned against Heaven and against You, committing foul transgressions in Your sight. But I ask You to wipe them all from the Book of Remembrances You have written, through Jesus Christ our Lord and only Savior. Amen. Give me, O Lord, I humbly ask you, a wise, sober, patient, understanding, devout, and courageous heart; pure and temperate reins, and thoughts; a soul full of devotion to serve you, and strength against all temptations, especially the temptations of... Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thanksgiving and Intercession

A series of prayers offering thanks for preservation and interceding for the Church, the Sovereign, and others.

O Lord, I offer you humble and heartfelt thanks for all the benefits and blessings, both spiritual and temporal, which in the richness of your great mercy you have generously poured out upon me, especially the spiritual ones. Lord, let me live only to praise and magnify you and your glorious Name. In particular, I give you my most sincere thanks for protecting me from the time of my birth to this present moment. For bringing me safely to the beginning of this day, and for all the days of my life, I ask you to protect me from sin and danger, in soul and body, so that all my thoughts, words, and works may tend to the honor and glory of your Name, the good of your Church, the fulfillment of my duty, and the salvation of my soul on the day I appear to give an account before you, through Jesus Christ, our only Savior and Redeemer. Amen. O Eternal God and merciful Father, I humbly ask you to bless your Holy Catholic Church, wherever it is spread across the face of the whole Earth. Good Lord, cleanse it from all atheism, heresy, schism, superstition, and the factious defense of groundless opinions, so that one faith, one Lord, and one baptism may be uniformly professed everywhere, just as your Church is and can only be one. And grant, Good Lord, that I may be and continue to be a faithful, living, and working member under Christ the Head, in that Church which is the Body, all the days of my life, and through the hour of my death, through the merits and by the grace of the same Jesus Christ, our Lord and only Savior. Amen. O merciful God, bless this church where I live. Make it and all its members sound in faith and holy in life, so that they may serve you, and you may bless them, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Lord, bless our most gracious Sovereign, and fill him with all your hidden blessings; make him a devoted servant to You, a steadfast protector of the Church and the Truth, so that he may live long and achieve honorable success in all his days, in his person, in his actions, in his queen, in his children, in his servants, and in his people, crowned with glory after this life. In that good time which will be best for him and us, make him a joyful father of happy and successful children. Under him, bless the entire ecclesiastical and civil state, so that righteousness and peace may embrace each other, and we may serve and honor You forever. Amen. Good Lord, bless all the places I have a close connection to, the place where I was born, and every soul in any of them. All my friends, family, acquaintances, and anyone to whom you have made me beholden; especially my closest and dearest friends. All those. Lord, I ask you to forgive me and all of them for our sins, and keep us as your servants in both life and death. Amen. Gracious Father, bless my servants and make them yours. Give them grace to serve you first, and then me with faithfulness, sobriety, and diligence. Make me always willing, and to some extent able, to repay them for the time and strength they have spent or will spend serving me, all for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen. O Lord, bless all the afflicted members of the body of your Son, wherever and however they are suffering; send them constant patience or speedy deliverance, as seems best to you and is best for them, according to their various needs and necessities. And do for them according to all those mercies that I would desire you to show to my own soul, if at any time you were pleased to make my situation like theirs is at this moment. And, O Lord, be merciful. Amen. Blessed Father, bless all kinds of people in their individual needs; forgive my enemies their sins. Change their hearts so they no longer hate your servant, and if they refuse to change, please don’t hand me over to their power. Next, after the salvation of my soul, I humbly ask that you not deliver me into the hands of men, to the shame or scorn of the world. Amen.

Preparation for the End

Final prayers focusing on the Lord's coming, the hour of death, and total surrender to God's will.

O Lord Jesus! Grant what I ask, and command whatever you will. Prepare my soul for your coming, and come whenever you will. Grant me, if it pleases you, the minimum I need—the most peaceful patience—and come however you wish, O You who are the salvation of all who hope in You. Furthermore, I beseech you, O Lord Jesus, to place your Death, Cross, Passion, Merit, and Blood between your Judgment and my soul, now and always, especially at the hour of my death. I humbly pray that my death may never be sudden, that it may never find me unprepared, and that it may never come in such a way that it rages against me; rather, may I retain Faith, Hope, and Love, along with my memory and sound understanding, until my last breath. And be to me a God of protection. Grant me mercy and forgiveness for my sins, peace and harmony for your Church, grace for me, a sinner, in this life, and glory in the life to come. Yes, yes, come, O Lord Jesus, and have mercy on me. Amen. Lord, here I am; do with me whatever seems best to you. I humbly ask only that you give me a penitent and patient spirit to wait for you. Amen. Lord, make my service acceptable to you while I live, and my soul ready for you when I die. Amen. Our Father, who art in Heaven, etc.

And there is no health, no hope of health in me. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon me, miserable, most miserable sinner, the greatest sinner, and most unthankfull for so great Grace.
