O Lord, when you seek justice for bloodshed, remember and don't forget the plea of the poor. Arise, O Lord God, and lift up your hand; don't forget the poor. Take his cause into your hand, for he commits himself to you, and you are the helper of the friendless. O be still, even for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Praise the Lord, all you who fear him; honor him, all you descendants of Jacob. For he has not despised or rejected the lowly state of the poor; he has not hidden his face from them, but when they cried out to him, he heard them.
