With the consent of his queen wife, they both refrained from carnal relations throughout Advent and Lent, yet on certain days each week, as well as during vigils and on the days of major feasts, they would engage in such relations. Moreover, during the solemnities when he was supposed to receive Communion, he would abstain for several days before and after, out of reverence for the sacred mystery. However, if it happened that on those days of abstinence he needed to visit his queen and stay with her, and if he felt any disordered movements of the flesh due to human frailty, he would get up from bed and walk around the room until the rebellion of the flesh subsided.

De consensu uxoris suae reginae, per totum Adventum et per totam Quadragesimam simul ab opere carnali mutuo continebant ; et nihilominùs aliquot certis diebus qualibet septimana, similiter in vigiliis et diebus magnorum festorum.
