The daughter is instructed to honor her husband and parents with humility and love, while maintaining that ultimate obedience belongs to God.
Dear daughter, obey your husband humbly, and your father and your mother as well, in the things that are according to God: you should gladly do for each of them what is due to him, for the love you ought to have for them; and still more, you should do even better by them for the love of Our Lord, who has ordered it so; but against God you must obey no one.
