Chapter 65SymH.1.65

LXV. Cum vox sanguinis (Ymnus)

The Blood That Speaks to God

The blood of Ursula and her companions cries out before God's throne, awakening an ancient Trinitarian revelation that invites all to rejoice.

When the voice of the blood of Ursula and her innocent crowd rang out before God's throne, an ancient prophecy came through the root of Mamre in the true revelation of the Trinity, and said: This blood touches us; now let us all rejoice.

The Lamb's Gathering and the Sacrifice of Praise

The Lamb's gathering, the ram among thorns, and the calf sacrifice all point to a veiled revelation of God that priests proclaim without fully seeing.

And afterward the gathering of the Lamb came, through the ram hanging among thorns, and said: Let praise be in Jerusalem through the redness of this blood. Then came the sacrifice of the calf, which the old law pointed to, a sacrifice of praise, clothed about with variety, and which used to veil the face of God from Moses, showing him only its back. These are the priests, who show God through their tongues and yet cannot see Him perfectly.

Ursula Named a Dove in the Highest

The heavenly assembly declares that Ursula is named a Dove in the highest because she gathered an innocent crowd, and the Church is praised in this gathering.

And they said: O most noble crowd, this virgin who on earth is called Ursula is named a Dove in the highest, because she gathered an innocent crowd to herself. O Church, you are praiseworthy in this crowd.

The Burning Bush and the First Root

The great crowd is signified by the burning bush and planted in the first root of humanity, and now all heavens and peoples are called to rejoice in their adornment.

A great crowd, which the burning bush that Moses had seen signifies, and which God had planted in the first root in the human being, whom He had formed from mud, so that it might live without union with man, when a most radiant voice cried out in purest gold, clothed about with topaz and sapphire in gold. Now let all the heavens rejoice, and all the peoples, when they are adorned with them.

Amen

The hymn concludes with a simple Amen.

Amen.

O ecclesia, tu es laudabilis in ista turba.

Amen.
