XLV. Rex noster promptus (De innocentibus)

The King Receives the Innocent Blood

The king is willing to receive the blood of the innocent.

Response: Our king is willing to receive the blood of the innocent.

Angels Sing, the Cloud Laments

The angels sing in praise while the cloud laments over the innocent blood.

So the angels sing together and resound in praise. But the cloud laments over that same blood.

The Tyrant Suffocates in Death

The tyrant is suffocated in the heavy sleep of death because of his wickedness.

Verse: But the tyrant is suffocated in the heavy sleep of death on account of his own wickedness.

The Cloud Laments Again

The cloud laments once more over the innocent blood.

But the cloud laments over that same blood.

Doxology

Glory is given to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

The cloud laments yet again over the innocent blood.

Responsum: Rex noster promptus est suscipere sanguinem innocentum. Unde angeli concinunt et in laudibus sonant. Sed nubes super eundem sanguinem plangunt. Versus: Tirannus autem in gravi somno mortis propter maliciam suam suffocatus est. Sed nubes super eundem sanguinem plangunt. Gloria patri et filio et spiritui sancto.
