Psalm 90
The Shelter of the Most High
The believer finds safety and divine protection against the snares and dangers of the world.
Anyone living under God's protection speaks to Him with deep reverence and confident trust: “Lord, You are my help and refuge, my God. I trust in You more and more; I will never forget You.” For his hand will rescue me from the snares that pursue my soul and from cruel, cutting words. If you remain under his shelter, if he is your hope and refuge, you will truly please him. His truth will be your shield. By day and by night, you'll be free from every fear. The flying arrow has no power over you. If you always keep God in mind, he will keep you safe. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but no harm will touch you. You’ll see your enemy brought to shame and perish through suffering.
Angelic Guardians and Divine Deliverance
God commands his angels to guard the faithful, granting them victory over spiritual enemies.
For, Lord, you are my hope and my longing; your refuge is on the throne above. No evil will surround you, for God has commanded his glorious angels to guard you, O Lord, O Son of God, in all your ways. They will carry you in their hands so you don't hurt your feet. Here you will strike down the snake and walk unharmed over serpents; the lion and the dragon will be utterly crushed, along with all their companions.
The Promise of God's Presence
God speaks directly to the faithful, promising to hear their cries, honor them, and grant them long-lasting grace.
Because he trusts in me, I’ll set him free. I’ll protect him night and day, for he acknowledges my name. When he calls out and raises his voice, I’ll hear his cry, comfort him, and make him glad. I am with him in all his distress. I will rescue him and honor him, and give him my grace. I will protect him from every danger, show him my goodness plainly, and grant him a long life.

Chosen Portion delivers your morning, midday and night office to your phone — the Hours, without the bells.
Chosen Portion is a modern Book of Hours: it turns the fixed-hour structure this collection preserves into scheduled, tappable daily prayer on your phone.
- Three daily prayer moments scheduled around your real calendar, not a monastery's
- Psalms and historic prayers sequenced for you — no page-flipping or decision fatigue
- A visible streak of completed offices, so the rhythm compounds instead of collapsing
