Psalm 22
The Shepherd's Provision
The Lord provides rest and guidance for the soul as a faithful shepherd.
The Lord Almighty is my shepherd; I will lack nothing. He has brought me into green fields and fed me beside refreshing streams. He watches over my soul and restores it by his grace, leading me swiftly, for his good name’s sake, along his righteous paths.
Courage in the Shadow of Death
God's presence and guidance offer comfort and courage even in the face of danger.
Even if I walked through the midst of death, I would fear no evil, for you, my God and mighty Lord, will always be with me. Here your staff and your rod gave me courage and comfort; in my danger, under your guidance, they comfort my heart.1
The Banquet of Grace
God prepares a table of abundance and anointing in the presence of enemies.
You have prepared a table before my eyes, in the presence of those who cruelly torment me without mercy. You have anointed my head with rich oil; my cup is filled to overflowing, and it can make me drunk.2
Dwelling in Eternal Mercy
The believer finds eternal security and joy in the house of the Lord.
And your unfailing mercy will follow and guide me; throughout all the days of my life, it will never leave me, so that I may dwell in the Lord’s house, near him and pleasing to him.3 There above, in beauty beside God’s Son, for endless days.

Notes
- 1 ↩Rendered as “gave me courage”; here fier appears to mean bold or confident rather than proud.
- 2 ↩Rendered contextually as “filled to overflowing”; the archaic Dutch wording is difficult, but the surrounding lines clearly echo the overflowing cup of Psalm 23:5.
- 3 ↩Literally “the Lord’s throne”; in the context of Psalm 23:6, this appears to denote the Lord’s dwelling or house.

Never lose the rhythm again
Chosen Portion delivers your morning, midday and night office to your phone — the Hours, without the bells.
Chosen Portion is a modern Book of Hours: it turns the fixed-hour structure this collection preserves into scheduled, tappable daily prayer on your phone.
- Three daily prayer moments scheduled around your real calendar, not a monastery's
- Psalms and historic prayers sequenced for you — no page-flipping or decision fatigue
- A visible streak of completed offices, so the rhythm compounds instead of collapsing
