Иларион свидетельствует о своем поставлении в митрополиты в Киеве при благочестивом кагане Ярославе.

I, the monk and presbyter Hilarion, by the mercy of God, who loves humanity, and by His will, was consecrated and enthroned by God-fearing bishops in the great and God-protected city of Kiev, to be metropolitan there, and shepherd and teacher. These things happened in the year 6559 (1051), while the orthodox kagan Yaroslav, son of Vladimir, was ruling.¹² Amen.

Азъ милостию человѣколюбивааго Бога мнихъ и прозвитеръ Иларионъ изволениемь его от богочестивыихъ епископъ священъ быхъ и настолованъ въ велицѣмь и богохранимѣмь градѣ Кыевѣ, яко быти ми въ немь митрополиту, пастуху же и учителю.

Быша же си въ лѣто 6559 (1051), владычествующу благовѣрьному кагану Ярославу, сыну Владимирю. Аминь.
