The King's Mirror
The King is encouraged to read the lives of the saints to stir his heart toward God.
The Son of God says to his bride: It’s written that a certain king, unable to sleep, had the annals or chronicles brought to him.✦ Since the king you're praying for is still immature, have him read the lives of the saints, their examples, and the deeds of the strong; through these, his heart will be stirred toward God, and he'll learn how to occupy himself at times with wholesome comforts amidst the cares of his kingdom.
Two Spiritual Guides
Christ appoints two spiritual advisors to provide the King with nourishment, correction, and wisdom.
Furthermore, I am appointing two of my friends for him, who will be like two mothers to him. From one of them he will receive milk and bread, and from the other, wine and medicine. The first will show him how and in what ways he sins, how to make amends for his mistakes, how to find comfort in times of trouble, and how to appease me when I am angry. From the second, he'll gain wisdom in doubtful matters, the resolution of mysteries, and the prudence to govern and defend his kingdom. Therefore, if he obeys them, he'll make progress before God and before men.
The Balance of Counsel
The King is advised to weigh the counsel of his spiritual mentors alongside the advice of others.
Still, he shouldn't obey these two in a way that ignores his other advisors; instead, he should listen to the counsel of many others alongside them, and then choose the better path with careful deliberation.
Et primus indicabit ei, quomodo et in quibus peccat, quomodo satisfaciat de erratis, quomodo consolari possit in tribulacione, quomodo mitigare me possit iratum.
