Chapter 24Revel.8.24

The King with the Heart of a Rabbit

A parable of a ruler who lacks true sovereignty and wisdom, serving as a warning against worldly vanity.

The Son of God says to his bride: A doctor once came to a distant and unknown region where the king didn't rule, but was ruled, because he had the heart of a rabbit. So, sitting on his royal throne, he looked like a crowned donkey, while his people were busy with their feasting and such. See the entirety of chapter 31 in the third book for this.

Filius dei loquitur sponse: Medicus quidam venit in regionem longinquam et ignotam, in qua rex non regebat sed regebatur, quia cor habebat leporinum.

Et ideo sedens in throno regali quasi coronatus asinus apparebat, populus vero suus vacabat comessacionibus etc. Require istud capitulum in tercio libro capitulo XXXI per totum.
