The Bridegroom’s Final Call
Christ appears to Birgitta to end her period of testing and prepare her for her final consecration and transition.
Five days before the death of Lady Birgitta, the aforementioned bride of Christ, it happened that our Lord Jesus Christ appeared to her before the altar that was in her room, and showing Himself to her with a joyful face, He said: I have done to you what a bridegroom often does: he hides himself from his bride so that she will long for him all the more. That is why I haven't visited you with consolations during this time, because it was a time for your testing. Now that you’ve been tested, come forward and prepare yourself; the time has come for my promise to you to be fulfilled—that you will be clothed as a nun and consecrated before my altar. From now on, you’ll be considered not only my bride, but also a nun and a mother at Vadstena. However, know that you'll lay down your body here in Rome until it reaches the place prepared for it, because it pleases me to spare you from your labors and to accept your desire in place of the deed.
A Lament for Rome and the Stewardship of Truth
Christ laments the state of Rome and instructs Birgitta on the preservation and future dissemination of her revelations.
Turning toward Rome, he spoke as if in complaint: "O my Rome, O my Rome, the Pope scorns you and does not heed my words, but accepts what is doubtful instead of what is certain." Therefore, he will no longer hear my pipe, because he places the time of my mercy at his own discretion." Then He said to His bride, "But you, tell the prior to hand over all these words of mine—all these revelations—to the brothers and to my bishop, to whom I will give the fervor of my Spirit, and I will bring my grace to completion in him." And although my grace has been withdrawn from many because of their ingratitude, others will still come who will rise up in their place and receive my grace. Among the final words of the revelations made to you, let that common and universal revelation be placed, which I gave to you in Naples. For my judgment will be fulfilled upon all nations that don't return to me with humility, just as it was shown to you there.
The Final Passage
Birgitta receives final instructions for her companions and peacefully departs this life after receiving the Sacraments.
After these things were said, along with many others not written here, Christ’s bride spoke about and gave instructions regarding certain people with her, whom she said she had seen before God before her death. After hearing this, the Lord added, "On the morning of the fifth day, once you have received the Sacraments, call together one by one the people who are with you, whom I have just named to you, and tell them what they must do." And so, through their words and hands, you'll come to your monastery—that is, into my joy—and your body will be laid to rest in Vadstena. Then, as the fifth day approached, Christ appeared to her again at the break of dawn to comfort her. Once the Mass was said and the Sacraments received with the greatest devotion and reverence, she gave up her spirit while in the hands of those people mentioned earlier.

Et scias, quod venient homines illi, quando michi placuerit, qui cum suauitate et gaudio recipient verba ista celestium reuelacionum, que hactenus tibi facte sunt, et complebuntur omnia illa, que dicta sunt tibi.
Et licet multis subtracta est gracia mea propter ingratitudinem eorum, alii tamen venient, qui surgent in locum illorum, et optinebunt graciam meam.
Inter vltima vero verba reuelacionum tibi factarum ponatur illa communis et vniuersalis reuelacio, quam tibi dedi in Neapoli. Quia iudicium meum adimplebitur super omnes gentes, que ad me cum humilitate non reuertuntur, sicut ibi ostensum tibi est."
Hiis autem dictis et multis aliis, que hic non scribuntur, mencionem fecit et ordinacionem dicta Christi sponsa aliquarum personarum secum existencium, quas ante mortem coram Deo se vidisse dicebat.
