The Visitation of Saint Anne
Saint Anne appears to the bride of Christ to identify herself as the patroness of faithful married women.
The sacristan of the monastery of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome gave the bride of Christ relics of Saint Anne, the mother of our Lady, the Virgin Mary. As the lady was thinking about how she might store and honor them, Saint Anne appeared to her and said, "I am Anne, the lady of all married women who lived before the Law."1 I am also the mother of all faithful married women who have lived since the Law, because God chose to be born from my lineage. Therefore, my daughter, honor God in this way:
A Prayer for the Fruit of Marriage
Saint Anne provides a specific prayer for married couples and promises comfort through her relics.
“Blessed are you, Jesus, Son of God and Son of the Virgin, who chose for yourself a mother from the marriage of Anne and Joachim!” Therefore, for the sake of Anne’s prayers, have mercy on all who are married, so that they may bear fruit for God! Guide also all who are heading toward marriage, so that God may be honored in them!” But the relics of mine that you have will be a comfort to those who love me, until it pleases God to honor them more highly at the final resurrection.

Sacrista monasterii Sancti Pauli extra muros Rome dedit sponse Christi reliquias de sancta Anna, matre domine nostre virginis Marie.
Cum igitur domina cogitaret, quomodo eas reponeret et honoraret, apparuit ei sancta Anna dicens: "Ego sum Anna, domina omnium coniugatarum, que fuerunt ante legem.
Ego eciam sum mater omnium coniugatarum fidelium, que sunt post legem, quia Deus voluit de generacione mea nasci. Ideo tu, filia, honora Deum isto modo:
'Benedictus sis tu, Ihesu, fili Dei et fili virginis, qui de coniugio Anne et Ioachim matrem tibi elegisti! Ideo propter preces Anne miserere omnibus, qui in coniugio sunt, vt fructificent Deo! Dirige eciam omnes, qui ad coniugium tendunt, vt in eis honoretur Deus!'
Reliquie vero mee, quas habes, erunt diligentibus in solacium, donec Deo placuerit eas alcius honorare in resurreccione nouissima."
Notes
- 1 ↩The Latin 'reponeret' in this context likely refers to the proper placement or keeping of the relics mentioned in the previous section.
