The Virgin Mary instructs the visionary on the five external disciplines and five internal virtues necessary for a holy life.

The Mother says, "Daughter, you must have five things within and five things without." First, on the outside: keep your mouth clean of gossip, your ears closed to empty talk, your eyes modest, your hands busy with good work, and keep yourself apart from the ways of the world. Inside, you also need to have five things: namely, to love God fervently, to desire Him wisely, to give away your worldly goods with a just and right intention, to flee the world humbly, and to wait for my promises with patience and endurance.
