The Passion and the Worm
Christ recounts the physical abuse he suffered during his passion, comparing his humiliation to a trampled worm.
The Mother speaks: "At that time my Son was suffering; as Judas his betrayer approached, he leaned down toward him because Judas was short of stature, giving him a kiss and saying: Friend, why have you come? And immediately some seized him, others dragged him by the hair, and others defiled him with spit." Then the Son spoke, saying: "I am regarded as a worm, which lies as if dead in winter, upon whom passersby spit and trample on its back." This is how the Jews treated me today, like a worm, because they judged me to be the most abject and unworthy of all.
The Contempt of Modern Believers
Christ rebukes Christians who presume upon his mercy while ignoring his commands and the authority of the Church.
Christians, too, treat me with contempt, because they consider everything I have done and endured for them out of love to be nothing but vanity. They also trample as if on my back when they fear and honor a human being more than me, their God; when they treat my justice as nothing, and in their own judgment, they set the time and the measure of my mercy. They also strike at me as if with their teeth when, after hearing my commands and my passion, they say: 'Let's do whatever pleases us in this life, and we'll still have the joys of heaven anyway.' If God actually wanted to destroy us or punish us forever, He wouldn't have created us, and He wouldn't have redeemed us with such love. Therefore, they will experience my justice, because just as not even the smallest good will go unrewarded, so not even the smallest evil will go unpunished. They also despise me, as if trampling me underfoot, when they disregard the judgments of the Church—namely, excommunication. So, just as the excommunicated are avoided by others, they will be separated from me, because excommunication, when it's known and despised, does more harm than a physical sword.
The Coming of Divine Justice
Christ warns that the one who was once treated as a worm will return in terrifying judgment.
Therefore I, who seem like a worm, now intend to rise up through my terrible judgment, and I will come in such terror that those who see me will say to the mountains: 'Fall on us and hide us from the face of the wrath of God!'

Contempnunt eciam me quasi conculcantes me, quando non attendunt iudicia Ecclesie scilicet excommunicacionem. Ideo, sicut excommunicati deuitantur ab aliis, sic ipsi separabuntur a me, quia excommunicacio, quando scitur et contempnitur, grauius nocet quam gladius corporalis.
