Revelationes (Heavenly Revelations)/Book 4 · Liber IV (partial)
Chapter 84Revel.4.84

Christus loquens sponse dicit, quod tres fuerunt supplantati propter mulieres; quorum unus assimilatur asino coronato, alius habuit cor leporinum et tercius assimilatur basilisco; et ideo mulier debet esse subdita viro suo semper .

The Perils of Unrestrained Influence

The Lord warns against the folly of a ruler who fails to restrain his mistress, likening him to a crowned donkey.

The Son speaks: "We read of three who were brought down because of women. The first was a king whose mistress struck him in the face when he didn't smile at her, because he was a fool who wouldn't restrain her and didn't care about his own honor. He was like a crowned donkey—a donkey because of his foolishness, and crowned because of his status."

The Weakness of the Strong and Wise

Samson and Solomon serve as cautionary examples of how even the strongest and wisest can be overcome by the influence of women.

The second was Samson, who, despite his incredible strength, was still defeated by a woman. He had the heart of a rabbit, because he couldn't master even one woman. The third was Solomon, who was like a basilisk, which kills with its gaze and is killed by a mirror. Solomon’s wisdom surpassed everyone’s, yet the face of a woman destroyed him.

The Call to Orderly Submission

The chapter concludes with a divine instruction regarding the necessity of a wife's submission to her husband.

That is why a woman must always be subject to her husband.

Filius loquitur: "Tres leguntur supplantati propter mulieres.

Sic Salomonis sapiencia omnes excedebat, attamen facies mulieris occidit ipsum.

Ideo oportet, quod mulier subdita sit viro."
