Chapter 48Revel.4.48

The King's Duty to God

The Son calls for a reversal of dishonor and an increase in charity toward souls redeemed by His blood.

The Son speaks: "If this person wants to honor me, let him first diminish the dishonor shown to me and increase the honor due to me." It is a dishonor to me that my commandments, which I have given, and the words I have spoken personally are treated with contempt and regarded by many as nothing. If, therefore, he wants to love me, let him from now on have greater charity for the souls of all those for whom I opened heaven with the blood of my heart.

Divine Rest and Earthly Stewardship

The king is encouraged to seek divine rest over earthly expansion and to embrace his role as a crowned servant of God's will.

If, however, he desires the rest found in God more than he desires to expand his own inheritance, he'll surely find greater delight and help from God in recovering that place in Jerusalem where my dead body once lay. Furthermore, you who hear these things, say this: "I, God, allowed him to be crowned." Therefore, it's his duty to follow my will more closely and to honor and love me above all things.

The Consequences of Neglect

A stern warning is issued regarding the shortening of the king's days and the fragmentation of his kingdom should he fail his divine charge.

If he fails to do this, his days will be shortened. Those who love him only in a worldly way will also be separated from him during times of tribulation, and his kingdom will be divided into many parts.

Read the original Latin

Filius loquitur: "Si iste velit me honorare, minuat primo dedecus meum et augeat honorem meum.
