The Witness of Heaven and Earth
The Trinity and the earthly sacraments of spirit, water, and blood testify to the bride's belonging to God.
There are three that bear witness on earth: the spirit, the water, and the blood; and three in heaven: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In this way, these three bear witness to you. For the Spirit, who watched over you in your mother’s womb, testifies to your soul that you are God’s through the faith of baptism, which your parents professed on your behalf. The very water of baptism bears witness to you that you are a daughter of Christ’s humanity, through the renewal and correction of the first transgression. The blood of Jesus Christ, by which you were redeemed, also bears witness to you that you are a daughter of the Godhead, and have been set apart from the power of the devil through the Sacraments of the Church. We too—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three in persons but one in substance and power—bear witness to you that you are ours through faith, as are all who imitate the true faith of the holy Church.
The Seal of the Eucharist
The bride is invited to receive the Eucharist as a final seal of her union with the Triune God.
As a sign that you want to do our will, come forward and receive the Body and Blood of Christ's humanity from the priest's hand, so that the Son may bear witness that you belong to Him, whose Body you take to strengthen your soul. May the Father, who is in the Son, bear witness to you that you belong to the Father and to the Son. May the Holy Spirit, who is in the Son and the Father, and the Spirit who is in both, bear witness to you that you belong to the Three and the One through true faith and love.
