Preces Quotidianae
The Sacraments and the Spirit's Intercession
A prayer for grace to receive the sacraments, trusting in the Spirit's inexpressible intercession.
I may receive, nor hope | 2 Cor.✦1 6.2 1.3 Of His Sacraments.4 I believe that the Spirit himself pleads for us with groanings beyond words: Rom.✦5 8.✦6 26.7 Lord, make me a partaker of His intercession and of those groanings beyond words.✦
Hope in God's Deliverance
A plea for deliverance, recalling how the fathers hoped in the Lord and were saved.
Our fathers hoped in you; they hoped, and you delivered them. They cried out to you, and they were saved; they hoped in you, and they were not put to shame. As you delivered our fathers in ages past, so deliver us also, Lord,8 who put our hope in you.
Prayer for the King and the Church
A petition for Christ the King to strengthen rulers, bring peace, and preserve the Church in faith and penitence.
O Christ the King, strengthen our faithful kings; make the Faith firm; calm the nations; give peace to the world; carefully preserve this Sacred College.9 And receive us in the orthodox faith and in penitence,
The Goodness of God
An affirmation of God's inherent goodness and love for humanity.
You are good as you are, and a lover of humankind.10
The Blessing of the Trinity
A request for the Father's power, the Son's wisdom, and the Holy Spirit's life to govern the soul.
May the power of the Father rule me; may the wisdom of the Son enlighten me, May the power of the Holy Spirit give me life.11

recipiam, neque spem | 2 Cor. vi. 1. Sacramentorum Ipsius.
Regat me potentia Patris, Illuminet sapientia Filii,
Vivificet virtus Spintus Sancti.
Scripture echoes
- ↩2Cor.6.1 — As God's fellow workers, we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.
- ↩Rom.8.26 — In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
- ↩Rom.8.26 — In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.

Notes
- 1 ↩Fragment continues the previous section's unfinished petition (Da mihi ne in vacuum gratiam Ipsius …). The pipe and '2 Cor.' look like a print citation marker (2 Cor. 6:1 on not receiving grace in vain), not body prose.
- 2 ↩Roman numeral 'vi.' is almost certainly the chapter number of the 2 Cor. citation begun in s1, not an independent sentence.
- 3 ↩Arabic '1.' is almost certainly the verse number completing '2 Cor. vi. 1', not an independent sentence.
- 4 ↩Genitive phrase only (Sacramentorum Ipsius). May be a heading, a trail of the prior petition, or the incomplete start of a new clause; sense is underdetermined.
- 5 ↩'Am.' is taken as the common abbreviation for Ad Romanos (Romans), not as English 'Am.' or a truncated word.
- 6 ↩Roman numeral 'vii.' is almost certainly the chapter number of the Romans citation begun in s5, not an independent sentence.
- 7 ↩Arabic '26.' is almost certainly the verse number completing 'Rom. viii. 26', not an independent sentence.
- 8 ↩Elliptical Latin: the first clause lacks an explicit verb; sense supplied from the psalm context (liberasti) and the imperative libera that follows.
- 9 ↩Opening form C«rEsTIS is treated as corrupted Christe (vocative): Christe Rex.
- 10 ↩sicut es affirms God's settled character ('as you truly are'), not a comparison. hominum amans is the liturgical φιλάνθρωπος sense: God who loves human beings, not mere friendliness.
- 11 ↩Source reads Spintus; translated as Spiritus (Holy Spirit), required by sense and by the preceding Trinitarian parallel (potentia Patris / sapientia Filii).
