Preces Quotidianae
Christ Our Defender
A litany of petitions naming Christ as the one who opposes every enemy of the soul—destroyer, adversary, devil, slanderer, accuser, and captor.
Who stands as Savior against the destroyer,✦1 Abaddon, Jesus.✦ Against Satan the Adversary: the Mediator.✦ Against the Devil. Against the slanderer, an Advocate.✦2 Against the accuser, an Intercessor.✦✦ To the one who leads us captive, a Redeemer.
Prayer for Transformation and Grace
Petitions for Christ to be formed in us, for remembrance of His intercession and judgment, and for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and love.
That Christ Himself may be formed in us, and that we may become conformed to His image.✦✦ When I am cold in prayer and need some grace, or heavenly consolation, remember the appearing and intercession of Your throne.3 When I am burning with passion and evil desire, never forget Your dread and terrible judgment seat.4 And let the sound of the last trumpet ring unceasingly in my ears.✦5 That for the sake of Your Christ we may receive from You, anointing Father, Your anointing—saving grace, Your unspeakable gift of the Holy Spirit—with saving compunction, clear knowledge, and fervent prayer,✦67 through the outpouring of love,

Notes
- 1 ↩Reading sese ... Servatorem as object with apposition (himself as Savior), not as two separate objects. Fits the next line's Abaddon / Jesus pairing.
- 2 ↩Source has a stray closing parenthesis after Calumniatori (Calumniatori ) Advocatum.); rendered as a dative-of-opponent + title pair in the surrounding litany pattern.
- 3 ↩Normalized from corrupt OCR: gratiw€ → gratiae; Cathedre Tu:e → Cathedrae Tuae. Cathedrae rendered as throne/seat in parallel with the tribunal of the next sentence.
- 4 ↩affectu et concupiscentia mala: affectu rendered as passion (disordered affection); concupiscentia mala as evil desire, not mere appetite.
- 5 ↩Normalized from corrupt OCR: tub: ultimze → tubae ultimae (of the last trumpet).
- 6 ↩Stray quote marks and garbled Greek-like OCR ("ἢ ἢ) treated as noise between list items; series continues into the next section (diffusione charitatis).
- 7 ↩liquida scientia rendered as clear knowledge (limpid/unclouded understanding), not fluid or watery knowledge.
