Tractatus Alter, Pars Prior, Cap. 21. De apparitione Christi coram undecim discipulis in monte Thabor in Galilaea,
I give you thanks, Lord Jesus Christ, King of heaven and earth, who weighs the mountains, holds the earth in the palm of your hand, who sits above the Cherubim and Seraphim, gazing into the abyss, who walks above the stars of heaven and considers the ends of the earth, and knows all things before they come to be. I bless, praise, and glorify you for that joyful, glorious, and high appearance of yours on Mount Tabor before your eleven disciples, just as you openly and certainly promised them before your passion, saying: 'It is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'✦ After I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee. First, you foretold them two very sad things to hear, grave matters for your beloved friends: namely, the shepherd's suffering, as you indicated that you would be handed over to the Jews, and then soon after, the scattering of the flock, their flight, and weeping out of fear of punishment and death. But so they wouldn't despair under the weight of their troubles, you immediately added two very joyful and comforting pieces of good news, assuring them of your glorious resurrection on the third day to come and the joyful appearance in that certain and well-known place, on Mount Tabor in Galilee, where you once performed many signs and miracles before your disciples and all the people. O Galilee, holy land, homeland of Christ, where the flourishing city of Nazareth is located, which the blessed Virgin Mary inhabited and illuminated with her holy presence, from which eternal joys of our salvation have come forth, as written in the holy Gospels. I praise and honor you, Jesus, for your great mercy, because you invited your disciples to come to a certain and secret holy place, separated from worldly turmoil, to hear divine commands that are fitting and chosen, where you were transfigured before three worthy witnesses, Peter, James, and John, while the other apostles were absent, and you were clothed in magnificent brightness, adorned with glory, and revealed in secret to strengthen the faith of your disciples before your passion. But in this most open appearance after your glorious resurrection, you revealed yourself to your broader disciples, confirming the faithful, certifying the doubtful, and teaching all with piety and joy about your presence and the power over all things given to you by the Father in heaven and on earth. Hearing your words, they rightly worshiped you and glorified your holy name, those who were present, and they were filled with such devotion that they joyfully sang a new hymn to you, our God, because they recognized such profound and wondrous truths about the Holy Trinity that no one can fully express. O splendid and delightful vision, O highest and divine revelation, O great and ineffable joy in the hearts of the holy apostles. I praise and glorify you, sweetest and most gentle Jesus, who spoke very kindly to your disciples on the mountain, revealing to them the true faith of the Holy Trinity and giving them the correct words for baptizing believers in the waters of the river for the remission of sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. In these words, I truly believe that I was baptized by a faithful priest and instructed and raised in the holy Catholic Church by faithful parents in the right faith. Thank you, Christ, from whom all good comes to humanity, with the hope of eternal salvation, to which after the end of this life you may grant me to be led and to assist me through the merits of the saints and to free me from the most serious pains of purgatory. It's my job to pray, and it's your job to help. I am fragile and unstable, but you are merciful and full of compassion, able to rescue me from all pain and lead me with you to the mountain of your glory. O Jesus, you are the salvation of my face and my God; I cry out to you, I sigh and pray day and night, until I reach you securely by your grace alone, guiding me, you who live with the Father and the Holy Spirit. iCnedico et gratias ago tibi, Domine lesu Christe, rex caeli et terrae, qui montes ponderas, terram palmo concludis, qui sedes super Cherubim et Seraphim intuens abyssos, qui ambulas super sidera caeli et extrema terrae consideras et omnia cognoscis, antequam lo fiant.
Amen.
In quibus sane verbis credo me a fideli sacerdote baptizatum et a fidelibus parentibus in fide recta et catholica inzs sancta ecclesia instructum et educatum.
