The Permanence of Virtue
Unlike physical cleansing which is transient, the virtues permanently transform and abide within the purified soul.
Nothing used to cleanse the body remains afterward with those who have been cleansed; but the virtues cleanse the soul and remain with it once it is clean.

Οὐδὲν τῶν καθαιρόντων τὰ σώματα σύνεστι μετὰ τοῦτο τοῖς καθαρθεῖσιν· αἱ δὲ ἀρεταὶ ὁμοῦ τε καθαίρουσι τὴν ψυχὴν καὶ καθαρθείσῃ συμπαραμένουσιν.
