The Discipline of Hunger
Practicing restraint in diet cultivates a spirit of gratitude and contentment.
Whenever our soul craves a variety of foods, let it be restricted to bread and water, so that it may become grateful even for a simple piece of bread. For a full stomach desires all kinds of dishes, but hunger considers its fill of bread a blessing.
