What is Lust?
Lust is defined as disordered carnal desire against God's command, sinning against one's own body and the body of Christ.
Question 28. What is lust or sensuality? Answer. Lust is the disordered desire of the flesh, contrary to God's commandment. This is a sin against one's own body, as the Apostle says: "Whatever sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against their own body" (1 Cor. 6:18). Furthermore, since every Christian is a member of Christ's body, whoever engages in sexual immorality with a prostitute defiles himself. The Apostle teaches that every believer is a member of Christ's body with these words: "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!"
Flee from Lust, Embrace Purity
The Apostle commands to flee from fornication, and the opposing virtue is chastity.
And soon after: “Flee from sexual immorality” (1 Cor. 6:15, 18). The virtue opposite to this vice is chastity.
The Fruits of Lust
Lust leads to darkened understanding, impiety, despair, sloth, enmity, and other vices, necessitating a pure heart to avoid it.
Question 29. What other sins are born from this one? Answer. Darkness of mind, aversion to divine things, impiety, envy, despair, lust, sloth, enmity with one's neighbor, and other similar things. Whoever wants to avoid this sin must constantly remember that God dwells only in a pure and blameless heart. Therefore the Psalmist prays to God to grant him a pure heart: "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me" (Ps. 50:12).

Вопрос 28. Что есть блуд или сладострастие?
Ответ. Блуд есть безпорядочное пожелание плоти, противное заповеди Божией. Это грех против собственного тела человека, как говорит Апостол: «всяк [бо] грех, егоже аще сотворит человек, кроме тела есть: а блудяй во свое тело согрешает» (1Кор. 6, 18). Сверх сего, поскольку каждый Христианин есть член тела Христова, то творящий блуд с любодейцами оскверняет самого себя. А что каждый из верующих есть член тела Христова, тому научает Апостол сими словами: «Не весте ли, яко телеса ваша удове Христовы суть. Вземь ли убо уды Христовы, сотворю уды блудничи. Да не будет».
И вскоре: «Бегайте блудодеяния» (1Кор. 6:15, 18). Противоположная сему пороку добродетель есть целомудрие.
Вопрос 29. От сего греха какие другие рождаются?
Ответ. Помрачение ума, отвращение от предметов Божественных, нечестие, зависть, отчаяние, распутство, леность, вражда с ближним, и другие подобные. Кто хочет уклониться от сего греха, тот должен непрестанно помнить, что Бог пребывает только в чистом и непорочном сердце. Посему и Псалмопевец молит Бога, чтобы Он даровал ему сердце чистое: «Сердце чисто созижди во мне, Боже, и дух прав обнови во утробе моей» (Пс. 50, 12).
