IV. Christus judex cuncta examinat.

IV. Christus judex cuncta examinat.

Therefore, it appears on his left thigh, because he who resists the Devil in holy humanity, and who has struck him down with the sword of chastity, namely the Son of God, will come in the form of a man; and as he licks his knees, that is, receiving judicial authority from God the Father, he cries out that the whole world is to be purged by fire, and renewed in a different way, and also that the wickedness of men is to be examined by his judgment, and that holiness is to be led to perfection in good and righteous works in man, so that the souls of the just may pass to the greatest glory and the greatest joy of eternal life. All that is stained in the world will be cleansed. When God has perfected the powers of His might in a person, He will lift up His strength in the clouds and will withdraw the veil that has obscured the elements; and He will do this with such great terror that everything on earth will be shaken, and all that has been stained by the sins of humanity will be purified. Then God will destroy Aquiion and all the powers of the North, and He will cast down the Devil with his victorious arms, and strip him of his spoils.
