Lucifer was created like a mirror, adorned with all his ornaments; but he wanted to be light himself, not just a shadow of that light. Then God made the sun, which would illuminate all creatures against its brightness, and He placed the moon, which would light up all darkness against its snares, and He set the stars, which would obscure all its vices. God is indeed that fullness in which there is no emptiness, nor can there be any. The Devil is an empty vessel, for as soon as he looked upon his own brilliance, he lost it through pride and buried himself in hell, where he will remain without glory and without any honor or praise; for he is the plunderer who stripped the first man and expelled him from Paradise, and who was a murderer in Abel, and who first killed men when he showed himself to them as God.

Lucifer enim velut speculum cum omnibus ornamentis suis constitutus erat; sed ipse lux, et non umbra ejusdem lucis esse voluit.
Tunc Deus solem fecit, qui omnes creaturas contra fulgorem illius illustraret, et lunam posuit, quae omnes tenebras contra insidias illius illuminaret, et stellas constituit, quae omnia vitia ejus offuscarent.
Deus namque plenitudo illa est, in qua nulla vacuitas nec est, nec esse potest.
