But in other horrifying darknesses, where there is no light and the flames burn, because they lack the air of light and the glow of a blazing fire, which are adjacent to the aforementioned shadows, both exist in perdition; this is hell, as you see. It rises in the ruin of the lost angels, having taken in Satan, and it retains all the torments of every misery without consolation and without hope; in it remain both the souls that are in oblivion and the ancient inventor of perdition. The capacity of mortal creatures cannot grasp what they are, how many they are, or what kind they are, because these things are in oblivion and will never cease; for those who do not seek the grace of God, do not wish to look upon God, nor desire to have life, will remain in these.

Sed in aliis horrendis et sine flarnma ardentibus tenebris, quia aere lucis et flamma rutilantis ignis carent, quibus praefatae tenebrae contiguae sunt, quoniam utraque in perditione existunt, gehenna est, ut vides; quae in ruina perditorum angeiorum surgens, Satanam suscepit, et quaecumque tormenta omnium miseriarum sine consolatione et sine spe in se retinet; in quibus tam aniraae quae in obiivione sunt, quam idem antiquus inventor perditionis, manent.
Quae quot el quanta et qualia sint, capacitas mortalis crealurae non capit, quoniam haec in oblivione sunt, et nunquam cessabunt; quoniam his qui gratiam Dei non quaerunt, nec in Deum aspicere volunt, nec qui vitam habere desiderant, in his permanebunt.
