¶ That the worde, or Sōne of God, was made very mā.
The Incarnate Word
The Son of God took human nature from the Virgin Mary, uniting full deity and full humanity in one person forever, and suffered as a sacrifice for all sin.
The Son, who is the Word of the Father, took human nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary, from her substance, so that two whole and perfect natures—that is to say, the Godhead and manhood—were joined together in one person, never to be divided. From this union there is one Christ, true God and true man, who truly suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile his Father to us, and to be a sacrifice for all the sin of humankind, both original and actual.1

THe Sōne, which is the word of the father, tooke mans nature in the wombe of the blessed virgine Mary: of her Substāce: so that two hole, and perfecte natures, that is to say, the godhode, and manhoode were ioygned together into one persone, neuer to be diuided: wherof is one Christe very God, & very man: who truly suffred, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile hys father to vs, and to be a Sacrifice for all sinne of man, both originall, and actuall.
Notes
- 1 ↩Source says "to reconcile hys father to vs" (Father reconciled to us), not the more common Pauline phrasing of reconciling us to God; the direction is preserved.

Rule yourself daily, not just on retreat
Chosen Portion turns the mirror into a daily practice — a short reading and examining question each morning before you lead anyone.
Chosen Portion makes the mirror daily: the ruler-formation questions this collection preserves become a two-minute morning examination in the app.
- A daily formation reading drawn from centuries of counsel to those in authority
- One pointed examination question a day — two minutes, before the meetings start
- Track your practice over weeks and watch the examined life become a habit
