De peregrinatione fidelium, quos sub ea tempestate

The Flight to Pella

The Church is divinely guided to flee Jerusalem for Pella to escape coming judgment.

Christ remained in Pellam. The Church, which had been gathered in Jerusalem, was divinely commanded to cross over the Jordan to a certain town named Pellam, where a place would be made for the worshipers of the heavenly God after they were taken away from the city, which was to be punished for its sacrilege. Eusebius of Caesarea also covers this in greater detail in his Ecclesiastical History.

Read the original Latin

seruauit Ghristus apud Pellam. Ecclesia uero quae fuerat lerosolimis congregata diuinitus transire iussa est trans lordanem ad oppidum quoddam nomine Pellam, quo ablatis ex urbe cultoribus Dei celestis uindictae fieret locus, quae in urbem gentemque sacrilegam a fuerat exercenda. Quod et Eusebius Cesariensis in Ecclesiastica Historia plenius refert.
