The Struggle Against Temptation
We acknowledge our weakness and ask for the Holy Spirit's strength to resist the devil, the world, and our own sinful nature.
What does the sixth petition mean: "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"? We pray: On our own, we're so weak that we can't stand for even a moment. Our declared enemies—the devil, the world, and our own nature—never stop tempting us. Therefore, strengthen and support us through the power of your Holy Spirit, so that we may firmly resist them and not succumb in this spiritual struggle, until we finally achieve complete victory.
The Glory of the King
We conclude our prayer by acknowledging God's sovereign power and kingdom, seeking His glory above all else.
How do you conclude this prayer? “Yours is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever.” Therefore we pray: We ask you for all this because you, as our King and the Almighty over all things, are willing and able to give us every good thing, so that not we, but your holy name may be praised forever.
The Certainty of Amen
The word 'Amen' serves as a seal of faith, affirming that our prayers are heard by God with absolute certainty.
What does the word 'Amen' mean? 'Amen' means: It is true and certain! For my prayer is much more certainly heard by God than I feel in my heart that I desire all this from Him.

Was bedeutet die sechste Bitte: „Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen«? Damit beten wir: Aus uns selbst sind wir so schwach, dass wir nicht einen Augenblick bestehen können. Auch hören unsere erklärten Feinde, der Teufel, die Welt und unser eigenes Wesen, nicht auf, uns anzufechten. Darum erhalte und stärke uns durch die Kraft deines Heiligen Geistes, dass wir ihnen fest widerstehen und in diesem geistlichen Streit nicht unterliegen, bis wir endlich den völligen Sieg davontragen.
Wie beschließt du dieses Gebet? „Dein ist das Reich, und die Kraft und die Herrlichkeit in Ewigkeit". Damit beten wir: Dies alles erbitten wir darum von dir, weil du als unser König und aller Dinge mächtig uns alles Gute geben willst und kannst, und dass dadurch nicht wir, sondern dein heiliger Name ewig gepriesen werde.
Was bedeutet das Wort: „Amen"? Amen heißt: Das ist wahr und gewiss! Denn mein Gebet ist von Gott viel gewisser erhört, als ich in meinem Herzen fühle, dass ich dies alles von ihm begehre.
