R133: Propst S. in Koblenz an Hildegard von Rupertsberg
Salutation and Greeting
The provost of Koblenz addresses Hildegard with a humble and affectionate greeting in the Lord.
The provost at Koblenz. To Hildegard. Beloved in Christ. The provost of the brothers — Q. — at Koblenz, though I'm unworthy of it! Greetings in the Lord.
Gratitude for Past Consolation
The provost thanks Hildegard for her past consolations and acknowledges the fulfillment of her prophetic words.
Because in all my troubles you have always won me over with your consolations. And now everything has come true that you foretold to me!
Plea for Prayer in Present Trouble
The provost urgently asks Hildegard to pray for him amid inner and outer trials and to share any divine insight about his future hope.
I beg you to entreat the merciful Lord now, in everything that presses on me from without and from within, to comfort me. And if you see anything in me—and especially if I dare to hope for any hope in the life to come from kind Jesus—you must write it down, O most beloved and most loving one.
Prayer for Repentance and Farewell
The provost expresses his deep prayer to the Lord for repentance before death and closes with a farewell.
Furthermore, you should know that the Lord is the one I pray to with my deepest prayers. So that before my death I may turn myself from my sins with worthy repentance. Farewell.
