Како детеи своих воспитати во всяком наказании и страсе божии
The Sacred Duty of Parental Stewardship
Parents are called to raise their children in the fear of God and sound discipline, bearing responsibility for their spiritual and moral formation before the Dread Judgment.
And if God sends someone children, sons or daughters, then the father and mother should take care of them: provide for them, raise them in sound discipline, and teach them the fear of God, good manners, and every decent order. In due time, looking to the children and their age, mothers should teach daughters handiwork, and fathers should teach sons—each according to what he is fit for and whatever aptitude God has given him. Love them, guard them, and save them by reverent fear: teach them, correct them, and with discernment lay on the rod. Discipline your children in their youth, and they will give you rest in your old age. Fathers should keep and guard their children's bodily purity and keep them from every sin as the apple of their eye and as their own soul. If children sin through a father's and mother's negligence, the parents will have to answer for those sins on the day of the Dread Judgment. And if children are left uncared for in the lack of discipline of fathers and mothers, and if they sin or do wrong, then for the fathers and mothers together with the children there is sin before God, reproach and mockery from people, loss for the household, sorrow and harm for themselves, and from the judges a fine and shame. But if children of God-fearing, sensible, and discerning parents are raised in the fear of God, in sound discipline, and in wise instruction in every understanding, skill, livelihood, and handiwork, then those children, together with their parents, are shown mercy by God, blessed by the consecrated clergy, and praised by good people. And when they come of full age, good people with joy and thanksgiving marry their sons according to their station, by God's judgment, and give their daughters in marriage to the children of such households. And if God takes any child of such parents in repentance and with Communion, then from the parents an unblemished sacrifice is offered to God, and the child is settled in the eternal dwellings, and has boldness before God to ask for mercy and the forgiveness of sins, also for their parents.12

Notes
- 1 ↩ORV наказание here means formative discipline/instruction (and corrective chastisement), not merely legal punishment; раны возлагати is corporal discipline ('lay on wounds/the rod'), rendered as 'lay on the rod' for natural modern force while keeping the source's severity.
- 2 ↩просуг is aptitude/skill/gift; вежство is manners/courtesy; вештво/вештву is practical skill or know-how; промысл is livelihood/household management; по своей версте is rank/station; продажа in this judicial context is a fine/penalty, not a commercial sale.
