Како в церкви мужу и жене молитися чистота хранити и всякого зла не творити
Reverence in the House of God
This passage outlines the proper conduct for husbands and wives in church and the necessity of maintaining a life of purity and sobriety to inherit the kingdom of God.
In church, stand through every service with the fear of God and pray in silence; at home, always pray Compline, the Midnight Office, and the Hours. If anyone adds to their own prayer rule for the sake of salvation, that is their own choice, and their reward from God will be all the greater. Wives should go to church as they are able, by their own choice and in consultation with their husbands. In church, do not speak to anyone; stand in silence and listen attentively, looking nowhere else, not leaning against a wall or pillar, not standing with a staff, and not shifting from foot to foot. Keep your hands folded across your chest and pray firmly and without wavering, with fear and trembling, with sighs and with tears. Do not leave the church until the service is finished, and arrive at the beginning. Keep yourself pure on Sundays and the Lord's feasts, on Wednesdays and Fridays, and during the holy Fast and the fasts of the Mother of God. Always guard yourself against gluttony and drunkenness, against empty talk and unseemly joking, and against theft, fornication, lying, slander, and envy; do not love any unjust gain—usury, the tavern trade, tolls, ferry fees, bridge charges, or any kind of cunning—and do not be angry with anyone. Do not eat or drink early before the service, and do not do so late after the singing is over; eat and drink to the glory of God, and at the proper time, feed little children and household workers according to the judgment of the husband and wife. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? As the apostle Paul said: if anyone who is called a brother is a fornicator, or greedy, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—with such people, do not even eat or drink. And again he said: neither idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the impure, nor the soft, nor men who lie with men, nor the greedy, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Every Christian ought to keep themselves from every evil.12

Notes
- 1 ↩Slavonic малакия / мужеложницы follows the Pauline pair malakoi / arsenokoitai (1 Cor 6:9). Rendered here as the soft / men who lie with men to keep the two terms distinct without KJV diction.
- 2 ↩ростов и корчмы и мыта, и перевозов и мостовщин: commercial sources of gain often tied in Domostroi to unjust enrichment (usury, tavern trade, tolls, ferry and bridge fees), not ordinary lawful travel.
