The Soul's Anchor in God's Providence
The faithful soul finds peace by recognizing God's sovereign hand in all the shifting turns of fortune.
So shall all things bend to their will, those who fear the Lord's name, the whole circle of the world and the means of fortune, wherever it goes around, shall, according to the Lord's counsel, bow to their hand: but the world's workshop is for the heavenly things of fortune, which makes many bends and many strange turns, that seem truly to the strong-blind eye of the flesh; and yet a noble soul can delight so wonderfully that it can recognize God's heavenly hand in all things, to which corner the wind of fortune will turn, so it sees its God in every direction of its compass, and never anchors on the fragile glass of fortune, even if fate is never so anxious and harsh; God does all things and makes them well-adjusted.

Saa skal dog alle Ting sig efter dennem føye, Som frygte HErrens Navn, ald Verdens Sirkelring Og Lykkens Middel-punct, ihvor det gaar omkring, Skal, efter HErrens Raad, til deris Haand sig bøye: Men Verden Verksted er for Himlens Lykke-ting, Som giør vel mangen Bukt og mange sælsom Sving, Der synis verkelig for Kiødets stær-blind Øye, Og dog en ædel Siæl saa herlig kand fornøye, At dend i alle Ting GUds Himmel-haand kand kiende, Til hvilket Hiørne sig end Lykkens Vind vil vende, Saa seer dend dog sin Gud, hver Streeg i sit Kompas, Og aldrig anker paa det skiøre Lykke-glas, Om Skæbnen aldrig vaar saa ankelig og hvas, GUd giør dog alle Ting, og giør dem vel tilpas.

Never lose the rhythm again
Chosen Portion delivers your morning, midday and night office to your phone — the Hours, without the bells.
Chosen Portion is a modern Book of Hours: it turns the fixed-hour structure this collection preserves into scheduled, tappable daily prayer on your phone.
- Three daily prayer moments scheduled around your real calendar, not a monastery's
- Psalms and historic prayers sequenced for you — no page-flipping or decision fatigue
- A visible streak of completed offices, so the rhythm compounds instead of collapsing
