Chapter 13ArcaN.2.13

De tribus verbis.

The Three Words

The chapter introduces three kinds of words: the fading word of man, the enduring created word of God, and the eternal, uncreated Word of God who is the Word of Life.

Likewise, there are three words. The first is the word of man, which, once spoken, fades away; the second is the word of God — that is, the work of God — which, though created, stands unchanging, yet never actually ceases; the third is the word of God, which, begotten and not created, knows neither end nor beginning, admits no mutability whatsoever — and this is the word of life.
