Chapter 271ChrP.4.271

De depredacione territorii Medenicke.

The Raid on Medenicka

Brother Henry returns to Königsberg, gathers a great army of Rhineland nobles and pilgrims, lays waste to the territory of Medenicka, suffers fifty brothers killed, and the count from Mons captures many knights before the castle of Medewagamf.

While the same Brother Henry was returning to Königsberg, he found many pilgrims from the regions of the Rhine — namely, noble men from Mons and Nuwennared, Count Arnold from Einer, and many other nobles — with whom, having gathered a great army once again, he came to the territory of Medenicka and laid it waste, after killing and capturing two hundred men. On the brothers' side as well, fifty men fell, killed. In the meantime, while these things were underway, the count from Mons, under the brothers' banner before the castle of Medewagamf, made off with many knights.
