De vastacione territorii caslri Garthe.
The Raid on Garthe
Brother Otto leads a mounted force toward the fortress of Garth, is providentially delayed by a marsh, and upon entering the territory kills and captures many locals and defeats straggling Lithuanians on the return.
At the same time, Brother Otto of Bergod and five other brothers, along with four hundred horsemen from Dewitsch and Nattangia, marched toward the fortress of Garth. When they reached the marsh whose river is called the Biber, their army's guides wandered off the road for two days — something brought about by God's providence, because the men from the aforementioned king's army had not yet returned to their own homes. After those days had passed and the Lithuanians had returned, the brothers entered the territory of Garthe, killing and capturing many of the local people. While they were heading back with a great deal of plunder, they were met by some Lithuanians who, exhausted, had fallen behind from the aforementioned king's army — and the brothers killed two of them as well.
