De vastacione terre Carsovie.

The Devastation of Carsovie

Brother Volz of Raganita, upon learning the Carsowites had marched against Memel, sends Brother Hildebrand with eighty men to raid Carsovie, burning the land and taking ninety captives.

Brother Volz, or Volradus, the commander of Raganita, hearing that the Carsowites had set out with an army against the brothers of Memel, ordered Brother Hildebrand of Rebergk to proceed to war against them. He took with him certain brothers and eighty men, entered the aforesaid land of Carsovie, and besides burning and plunder, led away ninety men captive with him.1

Notes

  1. 1The numeral 'ixx' is rendered as 90, following the gloss; the form is unusual and may reflect a scribal convention for 'nonaginta'.
