Chronicon Terrae Prussiae (Chronicle of the Prussian Land)/Book 4 · Tercia pars: De bellis fratrum domus Theutonice contra Pruthenos
Chapter 108ChrP.4.108

De vindicta hujus rebellionis.

The Master's Campaign and the Duke's Humbling

The Teutonic master leads a great army into Pomerania, captures and devastates strongholds by fire, and the once-fierce Duke Mestowinus is brought low, humbling himself to beg for the restoration of peace.

When this was learned, the master and the brothers, having gathered a great army, entered the land of Pomerania around the fortress of Nuwen on the feast day of the blessed apostles Peter and Paul. Juni burgk, and afterwards in the following autumn, captured the city and fortress of Dersowia and the surrounding territories of each stronghold, and with many men and cattle taken, devastated them by fire. When this was done, Mestowinus, duke of Pomerania, who had earlier raged against the brothers and their subjects like a lion, now softened by this sort of distress, obtained from the master through many prayers and by humbling himself that peace was restored between him and the master and the brothers — the former peace, renewed.
