Gebet nach der Absolution
The Certainty of Absolution
The believer rests in the divine promise of forgiveness delivered through the ministry of the church, finding in it the assurance of eternal life.
Dear God, you who have given me, along with your holy Word, sure truth to assure me that my Lord Christ's life, grace, and the heaven in which he is have, for my good, completely and entirely done away with my sin, death, and hell.✦ I am certain you will keep this promise to me; I am so sure of it that the words with which the minister has absolved me from my sins are as firm and powerful as if I had heard them from you yourself, O God.✦1 If this is indeed God's Word—and it truly is—then it must and will certainly come to pass and take effect; on that I rest, and in such hope and trust I will die.✦ Amen.

Amen.
