A heartfelt thanksgiving for divine protection during travel and a petition for continued guidance.
Gracious God, heavenly Father, I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you let me complete my journey safely and, through the protection of your dear angels, brought me back with joy to my own people, and so fatherly kept me from every evil that I was not killed by robbers and murderers, or torn apart by wild animals, or otherwise ruined or harmed in peril of water and other dangers; but that I, like young Tobias by the angel Raphael, was led safely there and back, fresh and well. For all this I have your fatherly providence and almighty protection to thank, and I ask you from the heart that you would go on graciously guarding me and mine, take us into your mighty protection, and powerfully keep us in body and soul for eternal life, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Gnädiger Gott, himmlischer Vater, ich danke dir von Herzensgrund, dass du mich meine Reise glücklich lassen vollbringen und durch deiner lieben Engel Schutz mit Freuden wieder zu den Meinigen gebracht, auch vor allem Übel so väterlich bewahret, dass ich nicht von Räubern und Mördern bin umgebracht, oder von wilden Tieren zerrissen, oder sonst in Wassersnot und andern Gefährlichkeiten verdorben oder beschädiget bin; sondern dass ich, wie der junge Tobias von dem Engel Raphael, frisch und gesund hin und her geleitet worden; dieses alles habe ich deiner väterlichen Vorsorge und allmächtigem Schutz zu danken, und bitte dich von Herzen, du wollest weiter mich und die Meinigen gnädiglich behüten, in deinen gewaltigen Schutz nehmen und an Leib und Seele zum ewigen Leben mächtig erhalten, um Jesu Christi willen. Amen.
