The Fulfillment of the Law in Christ
The ceremonial shadows of the Old Testament have ceased in Christ, yet their substance remains to guide the believer in the gospel life.
We believe that the ceremonies and symbolic forms of the Law came to an end with the coming of Christ, and that all its shadows have passed away; therefore, their observance should be discontinued among Christians. Nevertheless, their truth and substance remain for us in Jesus Christ, in whom they are fulfilled. Even so, we still use the testimony of the Law and the Prophets to confirm us in the gospel and also to guide us in living honorably, for the glory of God and in accordance with his will.

Nous croyons que les cérémonies et figures de la Loi ont cessé à la venue de Christ, et toutes ombres ont pris fin, de sorte que l'usage en doit être ôté entre les Chrétiens. Toutefois la vérité et la substance nous en demeurent en Jésus-Christ, en qui elles ont leur accomplissement; cependant nous usons encore des témoignages pris de la Loi et des Prophètes pour nous confirmer en l'Évangile, et aussi pour régler notre vie en toute honnêteté, à la gloire de Dieu, suivant sa volonté.
