Read the original Catalan
Fi damor major, dix lamic: pus quem fets amar major amat, fetsme viure e morir per sa amor.
ij. Egual fi damor, dix lamic: egualats en mi membrar entendre e amar ab que servesca mon amat.
iij. Reprès lamic la menor entenció damor, qui volia anar durmir en la fi damor, en qui major entenció damor avia delit e repòs.
Notes
- 1 ↩egualats en mi membrar entendre e amar: rendered as a petition parallel to neighboring prayers of love (fetsme...), making the three powers of the soul equal in the Lover for the Beloved's service.
- 2 ↩Old Catalan 'entenció damor' is kept as 'intention of love' (purpose/aim in loving), not modern 'intention' as mere plan. 'fi damor' is the end/goal of love; 'anar durmir' is literal going to sleep, contrasted with the greater intention's true 'delit e repòs' (delight and rest) in that same end.
