A Prayer for Steadfastness in Suffering

Lord, help me remember the bones of your Saints, how they lie scattered before the pit, just like when someone chops wood on the ground. O Lord, my eyes are fixed on you; in you I place my trust. Please don’t cast my soul away. And if my bones must also be broken, O Lord, I ask you to give me courage and plenty of patience, so that no torment may cause my faith to waver away from you, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

LOrd, make me remember the bones of thy Saints, how they lie scattered before the pit, even as when one heweth wood upon the earth. O Lord, mine eyes look unto thee, in thee is my trust, O cast not out my soul. And if my bones also must be broken, O Lord I beseech thee give me courage and abundance of patience, that no torment may make my faith fall away from thee, for Iesus Christ his sake. Amen.
