A Plea for Mercy in Scarcity

A prayer for divine mercy and a generous heart during difficult times of lack.

Be merciful, O Lord, and remember us, so that we aren't confounded in these perilous times, and that in these days of scarcity we may have enough, along with a free heart and hand to share it with your poor ones, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Earth's Abundance

A confession of sin followed by a request for the earth to be fruitful and prosperous.

O Lord, our sins have overwhelmed us, yet please be merciful to our transgressions. O visit the earth and prepare grain for its inhabitants. Crown the year with your goodness, and let no cloud drop anything but abundance; may the hills themselves rejoice on every side; may the pastures be covered with sheep and the valleys with grain, so that your people may rejoice and sing to you through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Turning Dearth into Plenty

A formal petition for God to transform current scarcity into abundance for the sake of His people.

O God, heavenly Father, who by your Son Jesus Christ has promised to all who seek your Kingdom and its righteousness everything necessary for their bodily sustenance: Behold, we beseech you, the afflictions of your people, and grant that the scarcity and dearth (which we now justly suffer for our sins) may, through your goodness, be mercifully turned into abundance and plenty, for the love of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gratitude for the Fruits of the Earth

A final prayer for the preservation of the earth's fruits so that God may be praised.

O Lord, please be mercifully pleased to give and preserve for our use the kind fruits of the Earth, so that in due time we may enjoy them and praise you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BE merciful, O Lord, and remember us, that we be not confounded in these perillous times, and that in these daies of dearth we may have enough, and a free heart and hand to bestow it upon thy poor ones, even for Iesus Christ his sake. Amen.

O Lord, our sins have prevailed against us, yet be thou merciful unto our transgressions. O visit the earth, and prepare corn for the Inhabitants thereof. Crown the year with thy goodness, and let no cloud drop other then fatness; that the very Hills may rejoyce …every side; that the Pastures may be covered with sheep and the Vallies with corn, that thy People may rejoyce and sing unto thee, through Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God heavenly Father, who by thy Son Iesus Christ hast promised to all them that seek thy Kingdom and the righteousness thereof, all things necessary for their bodily sustenance: Behold, we beseech thee, the afflictions of thy people, and grant that the scarcity and dearth (which we do now most justly suffer for our sins) may through thy goodness be mercifully turned into cheapness and plenty, for the love of Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord, be m…cifully pleased to give and preserve to our use the kindly fruits of the Earth, so that in due time we may enjoy them, and praise thee, through Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
