The Call to Universal Praise
The psalmist invites the faithful to honor God's greatness and power through constant, heartfelt devotion.
Always praise the Lord in his holy sanctuary and in the firmament above for the sweetness of his power. Thank and praise him; give him honor. Thank and praise him with all your heart. Praise him for his mighty works and his great power; praise him inwardly and outwardly, and keep praising him in your thoughts. Proclaim his praise in keeping with his greatness; proclaim his praise day and night.
A Symphony of Worship
The psalmist calls for a celebration of God using all instruments and the breath of every living spirit.
Praise him with trumpets and the sound of horns; sing his praise with psalms. Praise him well with the music of harps; praise him well your whole life long. Praise him at all times with fine tambourines, with dancing and melodies; rejoice with stringed instruments. Let the sound of the organ praise him; let it praise him with joyful expression. Praise him with resounding cymbals; praise him with cymbals that express delight and great joy. Above all, let every living spirit here—let every living spirit praise the Lord.
