The Priestly Vocation of the Brothers

Christ commands that the priest-brothers of the monastery devote themselves wholly to prayer, reading, and the divine office, while preaching the gospel in the native language to the nuns and the wider congregation on appointed days.

Christ commands that the brothers who are priests of the said monastery should devote themselves to prayer and reading alone, and that on certain days they should preach the gospel in the native language to the nuns. These thirteen priests, for their part, should devote themselves solely to the divine office, to study as well as to prayer, and not entangle themselves in any other business or duties. They are required to expound the gospel for that day in the mother tongue at Mass itself, for all who are listening, and on all solemnities — whose vigils or non-festive days they fast on bread and water — and on all other feast days that have a vigil, they are to preach publicly.
