Preces Quotidianae
A Prayer for Daily Life and Worship
The soul offers its daily purposes, asks for Christ’s victorious presence, confesses God’s worthiness, and prays for mercy that it may praise with all creation.
Purposes, endeavors, going out, and coming in, The Session and the Resurrection.✦1 A hymn is fitting for you, O God, and the vow will be fulfilled to you. You are worthy, Lord, our holy God, to receive glory, honor, and power. You who hear prayer: to you all flesh will come—and so on; Psalm2 65. 2, 3. But the words of the wicked have prevailed over me, and you will show mercy for my ungodly deeds.3 so that I may come and offer praise with all your works,4
Joined with the Saints in Praise
The soul resolves to bless God with the saints, asks for opened lips to declare praise, acknowledges God’s goodness to all creation, and gives thanks for grace received.
and with your saints I will bless you. Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. My soul praises the Lord because he has shown goodness to all of creation, to our entire race.✦5 Because you have shown me grace, Soul,6

benedicam tibi.
Domine, labia mea aperies, et os meum annunciabit
laudem tuam.
Laudat anima mea Dominum, Propterea quod benefecit Creature universa, Generi nostro universo. Propterea quod gratiam feceris mecum,
Anima,

- ↩Mark.16.19;Acts.2.33;Ps.110.1 — So then, after the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. Acts.2.33 — Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear. Ps.110.1 — The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool."

Notes
- 1 ↩Sessionem names Christ’s session—his sitting at the Father’s right hand—not an ordinary meeting or sitting down.
- 2 ↩Source has corrupt apparatus 'hz:c' after 'veniet et'; most plausibly an early-modern '&c.' (etc.) citation shorthand rather than prayer wording; rendered as 'and so on'.
- 3 ↩Normalized 'przvaluerunt' as 'praevaluerunt' (standard psalm reading 'have prevailed').
- 4 ↩'confitear' can mean confess or give praise; rendered as 'give praise' because the clause continues with God's works and, in the next section, the saints.
- 5 ↩Creature universa is treated as dative creaturae universae ("to all creation"), parallel with Generi nostro universo; the capitalized surface form may reflect a manuscript/print convention rather than classical case spelling.
- 6 ↩Source unit is only the bare heading/list item Anima,; rendered as Soul, per anima→soul policy. Likely a category label in the thanksgiving/devotion sequence rather than a full clause.
