Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty.3 Just and true are your ways, King of the Saints.4 Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? for you alone are holy.5 For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your judgments have been made plain.✦ .6 Apoc.✦7 15. 3, 4.8

Scripture echoes

  1. ↩Matt.2.16-Matt.2.18 — Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all its region who were two years old and under, according to the time he had carefully determined from the wise men. Matt.2.17 — Then was fulfilled what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Matt.2.18 — A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be comforted, because they are not.
  2. ↩Rev.15.3-Rev.15.4 — And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: "Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages — of the nations." Rev.15.4 — Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.

Notes

  1. 1 ↩‘delicias mundi’ is listed under the genitive header ‘Innocentium’ without a governing verb; rendered as the first commemorated item (worldly delights), not as an apposition equating the Innocents with the world’s delights. ‘Studium’ is ‘diligence/earnest endeavor’ to distinguish it from ‘Zelum’ (zeal).
  2. 2 ↩Source opens with 'Glora'; treated as a corrupt/typo reading of 'Gloria' (parallel to the repeated 'gloria/Gloria tibi' that follows).
  3. 3 ↩Source mirabiha read as mirabilia (marvelous/wonderful); clear OCR/type corruption.
  4. 4 ↩Source Justze et verz sunt vie tuze read as Justae et verae sunt viae tuae (just and true are your ways).
  5. 5 ↩Latin pius in this biblical canticle is rendered holy (standard sense of Rev 15:4 / Vulgate solus pius es), not merely devout or dutiful.
  6. 6 ↩Source sentence is only a bare period; treated as a non-lexical separator before the citation fragments that follow.
  7. 7 ↩Normalized '4poc.' as the common OCR corruption of 'Apoc.' (Apocalypse), matching the scripture-citation pattern in neighboring sections.
  8. 8 ↩Source has '9, 4.'; most plausible intended citation is '3, 4' for Apocalypse 15:3–4, matching the preceding Latin canticle. '9' is treated as a likely OCR error for '3'.
