Preces Quotidianae

Opening Petitions for Mercy

The worshiper asks to be saved, forgiven, remembered, and for enemies to be forgiven.

Keep me like a brand pulled from the fire. Father, forgive me, for I didn't know—truly I didn't know—what I was doing when I was doing what would displease you. Lord, remember me in your kingdom. Lord, don't hold my enemies' sins against them.

Meditation on the Passion of Christ

A series of meditations on the physical and spiritual sufferings of Christ, from the agony in the garden to the breaking of his body, interspersed with scripture references.

Notes

  1. 1 ↩Source ends with '|ZLuwc.', almost certainly a corrupt print/OCR form of the Luke citation marker '| Luc.' (the next section continues with xxii. 44, i.e. Luke 22:44 on the bloody sweat).
  2. 2 ↩conviciis read as conviciis/convitiis, 'insults' or 'abuse'; not a different sense.
  3. 3 ↩Source surface 'fcede' is read as foede ('foully/shamefully'); almost certainly a typographic/OCR corruption of oe/œ.
